Miscreants reportedly assaulted a restaurant owner and took away Rs 27,500 kept in his car near the restaurant here past evening. The incident took place at the PK Tunn restaurant in the Model Gram area. The police have registered a case against Gagan Saini, Parminder Singh and four unidentified persons in this regard.

In his complaint to the police, restaurant owner Rajinderpal Singh has stated that he runs a restaurant in the Model Gram area. Some persons arrived at his restaurant past evening and started arguing with his staff. One of his workers informed him about the matter. When he reached there, the miscreants started arguing with him too. “When I tried to stop them, they abused and assaulted me. One of them snatched the keys of my car and took away Rs 27,500 I had kept in the car. They also threatened me before fleeing the spot,” said Rajinderpal. 

A team from the Division Number 5 police station reached the spot and launched investigation. Constable Gurcharan Singh said the police had registered a case under Section 323, 341, 379, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC against Gagan Saini, Parminder Singh and four unidentified persons on a complaint of Rajinderpal Singh. “The suspects have absconded and we have been trying to trace them. We have obtained the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the restaurant that will help in in identifying the suspects,” said Gurcharan Singh.
