The ongoing battle for one-upmanship between one of the Congress legislators from the city and the Mayor has been taking turns and twists with each passing day. If the deliberations in the recently held general house meeting of the Municipal Corporation were any indication, the ruling Congress (read its elected representatives) is indeed a divided house in the mega city. But factor that has clearly emerged from the fierce factionalism in the Congress party is that political groupism has taken precedence over the civic issues or other problems facing the city residents. Unfortunately, the Congress councilors (and even legislators) seem to have taken sides. The residents feel that the Congress functionaries ought to be focusing on promises made to the people and not in pursuing their personal agenda.
Rain…smile for some and misery for others
Rains - especially during winters, are not welcomed. Although those who can sit in their cozy bedrooms are happy over rain pouring down while enjoying some hot tea with pakoras, but those who are not fortunate enough are dreaded with the sight of rain. “It might bring happiness to some but for us it is source of misery as it makes things difficult for us. It becomes difficult to go out on work as a result of which we fail to get payment. Not only this, with no proper housing facility available, it creates a proper mess in our life,” said a worker working in a factory.
Love for stray dogs
These days when people are after stray dogs, there are a few who take care of these animals in selfless manner. A woman comes daily near a vacant plot where a female dog has given birth to four puppies. The female dog gets furious if someone gets close to her pups, but this woman comes and brings milk with turmeric, for the dog. Yesterday, she bought a few multivitamins for the female dog. Though some people make fun of the woman, but she seems to be totally devoted to the cause.
