As 2018 is ending, leaving behind sweet and bitter memories, people are busy making resolutions in the coming year. One interesting resolution being made by all is weight loss. The social media is flooded with texts which say that the only resolution is to reduce few kilograms in coming year. Some wish to hit gym hard while others say no to extra calories.

No stopping illegal hoardings

Even as the Municipal Corporation is in the process of implementation of Punjab Municipal Outdoor Advertisement Policy and expects to collect more than Rs 25 crore per annum from hoardings, billboards, uni-poles and other modes of outdoor advertisement, illegal hoardings and banners continue to be put up in every nook and corner of the city.

Ironically, most of such banners or hoardings announce ‘religious congregations’ or congratulatory messages from city-based political leaders of all hues.

The MC field staff ought to keep a watchful eye on such flagrant violations and remove all haordings, banners and billboards that have been put up without proper permission and payment of license fee. Nobody should be allowed to get away in the name of religion or political clout.
