Srinagar, December 3
Adviser to Governor BB Vyas on Monday said a prompt grievance redress mechanism had been put in place in view of the ensuing winter and harsh weather in Kashmir so that people did not face any inconvenience vis-a-vis essential services and their deliverance.
The Adviser met a number of delegations and individuals during a public durbar at the Governor’s Grievance Cell in Srinagar on Monday and listened to their grievances.
An official spokesman said heads of various departments and their representatives were present during the interaction, facilitating on-the-spot disposal of public grievances. The heads of the departments who were not present at the programme were directed telephonically to immediately resolve the issues of people.
Vyas asked the officials concerned to reach out to the people and address their issues at the earliest. Keeping the harsh winter in mind, grievances of people must be addressed without any delay, he said. “The officials need to understand that people with grievances have high expectations from the government, especially from the officials concerned. Therefore, they should meet the expectations of the people,” he said.
He asked people to come forward and contribute to the development of the state. He said he was overwhelmed to see people in many areas addressing their issues on the community level rather than complaining about the system.
Vyas listened to the grievances of over 50 delegations and scores of individuals from various districts of Kashmir.
During the camp, Vyas said the functioning and service delivery of government departments had been revamped so that the grievances of people were redressed at the earliest and flagship schemes and welfare programmes were fast-paced.
The delegations apprised the Adviser of their grievances and sought his intervention in ensuring outcome-based redress.
