Doraha, February 11
Residents of Rampur village today vowed to shun stubble burning. Villagers made a resolve in the presence of officials of the Agriculture Department, members of cooperative society, sarpanch and panches, among others.
Agricultural officials sensitised the farmers about harmful effects of residue burning and advised them to efficiently manage stubble to avoid environmental degradation. They appealed the farmers to adopt in-situ management technologies.
The officials gave detailed information regarding the problems faced and their solutions while working with crop residue management.
“If farmers are facing any problem with the machinery, they can directly approach the Agriculture Department so that their problems can be addressed. Farmers must discuss the issue rather than dissuading others from adopting the machinery,” said the officials.
BAO Doraha (Additional charge) Rangeel Singh, ADO Dr Iqbaljit Singh, ADO Dr Nirmal Singh, ADO Dr Boota Singh, Cooperative Society president Kulwant Singh, member Cooperative Society Balraj Singh, sarpanch Kuldip Singh and zila parishad member Jagroop Singh were also present on the occasion.
