Chandigarh, January 9
More than nine years after the High Court paved the way for handing over Rampal’s Rohtak ashram back to the trust managing it, a Division Bench on Wednesday disposed of a contempt petition.
The order came after the Haryana Police submitted that possession had been handed back to Bandi Chhor Bhakti Mukti Trust.
The Bench was told that no complaint during the past year had been received regarding followers not being allowed entry to offer prayers.
An affidavit to this effect was placed before the Bench over a fortnight after senior advocate SK Garg Narwana submitted that devotees were not allowed to enter the premises to offer prayers.
Narwana’s submission was in response to the state counsel’s claim that “possession in respect of the chunk has been handed over to the petitioner on April 7, 2013”. — TNS
