Ram wins chess meet, Vikas finishes second

Mohali: Ram Prakash of Indian Railways won the HDFC Open Chess Championship, which concluded on Sunday. Prakash scored seven points to claim the top position.

Ram Prakash of Indian Railways won the HDFC Open Chess Championship, which concluded on Sunday. Prakash scored seven points to claim the top position. In the last round, Prakash outplayed Ramandeep Singh Gill. Vikas Sharma of Punjab claimed the second position with a score of 6½ points. He drew his last round game against Anmol Bhagat. Bhagat claimed the third position with 6½ points. A total of 118 players participated in this event. Akshay Anand, Aryan Arora, Jitender Joshi, Ramandeep Singh Gill, Prateek Wadhwa, Anuj Bansal, Swapan Kaur, Samneet, Anshul Mehta, Pratyaksh Goel scored six points each. —TNS
