Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Monday due to ruckus created by the opposition parties.

While the Congress and TMC members protested on the Rafale issue, the BSP snd Samajwadi Party expressed concern on the hooch tragedy in Uttar Pradesh in which illicit liquor had taken a toll of many lives.

The protest erupted while External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was introdcing the Registration of Marriage of Non-Resident Indian Bill, 2019. Preceding it, the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Third Amendment) Bill, 2019, was introduced amid din.

The members were heard objecting to introductions of the bills. The reasoning by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu that they were being only introduced, and not discussed, did not assuage them.

However, the ministers concerned rushed through the introduction proceedings amidst cacophony of protest voices.

The TDP members entered the Well of the House with placards raising slogans to save Andhra Pradesh. They demanded special category status for the state.
