Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday met Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan here and discussed the state’s flood situation with him.
After the meeting, Gandhi said he and the CM discussed the flood situation and measures to address it at the earliest.
“I am not going to get into details but basically we mentioned the flood situation and the need for quick compensation, the night travel ban plus some of the struggles the people are having there,” said Gandhi.
Gandhi said he wanted the government to get the sense that this was a serious situation and needed to be addressed urgently.
Asked about the CM’s response, Gandhi said, “The CM said that we are talking to the central government and they are trying. They assured us that they are apprised of the issue and are trying to resolve it. This issue is causing a lot of pain to the people of Kerala and Wayanad and I think it needs to be tackled at the earliest.”
