New Delhi, December 15

Union minister Vijay Goel has taken out a protest march demanding apology on Rafale deal from Congress president Rahul Gandhi  after the Supreme Court gave clean chit to India-France deal worth Rs 58,000 crore for procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets, rejecting any commercial favouritism.

He was on truck along with his few supporters while others were on two-wheelers carrying placards scribed "Rahul Gandhi mafi mango" (seek apology), "Congress ka ganda khel, Supreme Court ne kar diya fail" (SC failed Congress's dirty game), "Congress ka dekho khel, Rafale jhooth par ho gai fail” (Congress's game failed on Rafale lie). A bus was also hired for the marchers. The march started from Ashok Road to Janpath under tight security.

Goel said that Gandhi raised the issue of financial irregularities in purchase of Rafale to tarnish the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. A petition filed in the SC was rejected. He said that Gandhi should apologise as it is a question of the government’s dignity.

Delhi BJP welcomed the SC verdict on the deal. President Manoj Tiwari said that falsehood has a very short life and truth cannot be hidden for long time. It is disappointing to learn that country’s oldest political party is indulging in spreading lies about the deal forgetting the principle of Satyamev Jayate (truth only prevails) and ultimately trying to insult the force as well as the Pradhan Sevak of the country Narender Bhai Modi.

He condemned Gandhi’s politics of falsehood and said that this verdict was a slap on the face of the people, who were unnecessarily trying to spread misinformation just for their own political gains.

Rajya Sabha MP and AAP leader Sanjay Singh today requested the Upper House chairman to summon the Attorney General to explain why "incorrect facts" were placed before the SC in the Rafale deal case; while the Congress youth wing took out a candlelight march at India Gate demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe the deal. — TNS / PTI
