Kolkata, February 12
Kunal Ghosh, journalist-turned-TMC Rajya Sabha member, who is an accused in the Saradha Chit Fund scam case, has urged the CBI to question Kolkata Commissioner of Police (CP) Rajeev Kumar together with BJP leader Mukul Roy.
Ghosh was summoned to Shillong by the CBI for questioning in the company of Kumar. While Kumar is being grilled by the CBI, Ghosh returned to Kolkata this afternoon. The questioning began on Saturday and the agency questioned Kumar separately and also along with Ghosh.
Ghosh said he wrote a letter to CBI saying that Kumar might be trying to influence the witnesses in the case. At the Kolkata Airport, Ghosh said Kumar had himself disclosed during questioning that he called up people who were in the know of things.
Roy, who defected to the BJP from the TMC, was earlier questioned by CBI in connection with the scam. The TMC chief has alleged that Roy has escaped arrest by joining the BJP. “Kumar may not have felt sorry for me when I was arrested, but I am feeling sorry for him,” said Ghosh, who was held in 2013 and released on bail in 2016. — TNS
