Jammu, February 16

With a week left for the commencement of the Class X, XI and XII annual board examinations of the summer zone (Jammu province), the J&K State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has started getting feedback from the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of all districts of the region for setting up exam centres.

As per BOSE date sheet, the Class X and XII exams are scheduled to be held from February 27 and February 23, respectively. The annual exams of Class XI will start from March 7.

Sources said teams were constituted by the school board comprising officials of various wings to get feedback from the CEOs regarding the infrastructure available in the schools to set up the exam centres.

During their visit to various districts, the BOSE teams discussed with the CEOs facilities such as the availability of staff, desks and space in the classrooms in government schools. The sources further said one of the main reasons behind the initiative was the requirement of additional government schools to conduct Class XI examination by BOSE for the first time this year.

The BOSE authorities are not ready to take any risk to set up examination centres in private schools for Class XI due to chances of copying, which had been the case in the past during the home examination system.

A BOSE team, which had left for Rajouri and Poonch on Wednesday, returned on Friday evening after discussing the arrangements with the CEOs of both districts for setting up of examination centres in the state-run schools.

“The government schools in Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, Doda and Reasi districts have already been inspected. The final list of the examination centres is likely to be finalised by February 20-21,” a BOSE official said.

“Earlier, there were speculations that the examination centres might be set up in private schools due to Class XI examination but now the issue has been sorted. More government schools will be utilised for establishing examination centres,” the official said.
