Chandigarh: A purse containing Rs 30,000, three pairs of gold earrings and other valuables was stolen from the dickey of an Activa scooter in Sector 22. According to the police, the complainant, Kiran Sehdev (62), a resident of Sector 44, reported that she had gone to Sector 22 for some work on Thursday. She parked her scooter near Shishu Niktean School. When she returned, she found her purse containing cash, gold earrings, a mobile phone, a cheque book, some important documents and the keys of her house and a locker missing. The police were informed about the incident following which a case of theft was registered at the Sector 17 police station. TNS
Youth held for obscene acts
Chandigarh: A 25-year-old youth has been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for allegedly making indecent gestures after removing his clothes in front of women at a park in Sector 19. The accused has been identified as Ravi Inderjit Singh, who stays in Sector 19. The police said information was received that a youth had removed his clothes and was making indecent gestures in front of women, who had gone for a walk at the park near the church. The youth was also using unparliamentary language. The police rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused. A case under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Sector 19 police station. The accused was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. TNS
