A meaningful introspective Punjabi play ‘Bhatth Kherhean Da Rehna’ was staged on day two of the ongoing GS Naat Utsav, which is being organized by Suchetak Rang Manch, at Randhawa Auditorium here today.

Written by Ajmer Aulakh and directed by Kewal Dhaliwal the play offered deep analysis of the ruthless fake encounters by the police manoeuvered by the political and administration nexus for unethical gains.

The story revolves around a young policeman, who was ordered by his senior officer to carry out a fake encounter of revolutionary young man, who incidentally had helped him during his college days.

But on being threatened for life he was drugged to carry on the fake encounter. Gurtej Singh as policemen brought alive mental struggle between the humanistic and official duties.

The renditions of Sant Ram Udaasi, Pash, Surjit Patar, Aasi and Mahinderpal Bhathal’s poetry by Lopoke brothers were soothing and suggestive to situations in the play.

Besides, Gurtej Maan, Pargat Singh, Ashok Bhagat, Sarabjit Singh and Vikas Joshi portrayed multiple roles in the play.
