Sanchi (13) of Chandigarh and Khushi (11) of Ajmer, Rajasthan, were visiting their maternal aunt's house to spend their vacations. Four children were at home when the fire broke out and they were sleeping when the mishap occurred. — TNS

Doctors of BPS Government Women's Medical College, Khanpur Kalan, removed a tumour weighing 5.3 kg from the stomach of Kartari Devi (55) of Pasina Kalan village in Panipat district on Saturday. A team of doctors led by Dr Rajiv Mahendru and Dr Sunita Siwach removed the tumour. — TNS

Residents of Gobindpuri village, who have been staging a dharna along the Rewari-Narnaul railway lines for the past about two months, have served a 15-day ultimatum on the BJP government to approve the budget for a rail underpass in the village. The villagers convened a mahapanchayat of 58 villages of Khol block at the dharna spot for June 14 if the government fails to make any vital announcement in this regard. — TNS
