Chandigarh, January 21

Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar interacted with around 60 students of MSc Semester III from University of Kashmir, Srinagar, who are attending hands-on training programme on sophisticated analytical instruments installed at the Department of SAIF/CIL at PU.

The Vice-Chancellor described the rationale and vision behind inviting students from far-off places. He appreciated the efforts of Prof SK Mehta, Director, SAIF/CIL, and said more such visits would be arranged for the benefit of young researchers. He encouraged the students to bring out innovative research ideas from research labs to affordable and economical viable end-products useful for society.

He emphasised that the students should make best use of the facility available at Panjab University and propagate it in remote areas of J&K and Leh-Ladakh, especially for those students who were deprived of exposure to such type of state-of-the-art facility. He further said such type of special training would also be imparted to students and researchers from North-East States, Uttrakhand, Gujarat and backward areas of Rajasthan. — TNS
