Flaying cane-charge on protesting teachers in Patiala, members of the Punjab Students’ Union (PSU) staged a protest outside Government Rajindra College here on Wednesday.

They expressed resentment over the cane-charge on the teachers during a state-level protest in Patiala.

Union members said the government must withdraw cases registered against teachers and demanded that all their demands be fulfilled on priority. The students gathered in front of the college gate and raised slogans against the Education Department and the state government.

The protesting students also gathered near the ITI chowk and raised slogans.

Simarjit Kaur, president of the union, said, “While the teachers were protesting for their genuine demands, they were canecharged and many of them got injured as well. On one hand the state government had promised to distribute smart phones and provide jobs while on the other hand, it has been trying to snatch jobs from those who have it. We condemn the canecharge on the teachers. We demand that their demands must be fulfilled by the state government on a priority basis.”
