PSPCL lineman killed in hit-&-run

A 28-year-old youth was killed in an accident at Gill Chowk last night. The victim has been identified as Sunil Kumar of Engine Road. He was employed as lineman at the PSPCL.

According to information, Sunil was heading towards his home on his motorcycle last night. While he was crossing the Gill Chowk bridge, he was hit by a vehicle from behind. He suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.

The police said a case of negligent driving against an unknown person had been registered under Section 304 A, IPC. The police are checking footage of CCTV cameras to get some clue about the vehicle which caused the accident.

Another victim succumbs

In another case, an accident victim, Navneet Kaur, succumbed to injuries. Sources said on Friday, Narinder, along with her daughter Navneet, was heading towards Samrala Chowk on a scooter when a truck hit them from behind. The girl suffered severe injuries. She breathed her last at the hospital in the evening. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident. A case has been registered against an unknown truck driver.
