For more than a year, women cops of the Rajouri district have been running a petrol pump under the banner of the ‘Police Pariwar Fuel Care’.

The petrol pump is among five in the state being launched jointly by the J&K Police in collaboration with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). The ‘Empowering Women, Empowering Nation’ scheme was launched here on Saturday to promote sale at the pump.

“This petrol pump was launched about a decade ago and for the last one year, women cops are running it at the District Police Lines,” said a senior police officer.

Under the scheme, women customers will get a gift and the minimum eligibility to earn it will be Rs 300 for two-wheelers and Rs 1,000 for four-wheelers. It was launched jointly by DK Salathia, DIG, Rajouri-Poonch police range, and Rajesh Sharma, territorial manager (retails), and Shameer Qayoom, area sales manager, BPCL.
