Chamba, December 17
Himachal Pradesh Power Minister Anil Sharma inaugurated a 33/220-KV substation on Sunday.
The substation has been constructed by HP Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (HPPTCL) at Karian in the district at a cost of Rs 40 crore. The power produced by the IPPs (independent power producers) from their hydroelectric projects in the area will be fed into the substation through 33-KV dedicated feeders. The substation will evacuate power from the IPPs and Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEBL) enabling to draw power from a substation of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd during the lean season, when the generation is less as compared to the load demand of the region. Thereby, it will improve the power availability and voltage profile of the region.
On the occasion, HPPTCL Deputy General Manager ML Sharma disclosed that the state government had sanctioned transmission projects, which would cost about Rs 800 crore, at various locations in Chamba district. Work on such projects at Bharmour, Mazra near Pukhariand, Heiling near Holi was already in progress, said Sharma. — OC
