Poor visibility again led to the cancellation of a flight while 24 flights landed beyond their scheduled time and 16 flights departed late from the international airport here on Monday. A SpiceJet flight from Delhi was diverted back as it could not land here. 

The SpiceJet Chandigarh-Delhi flight was cancelled. The flights that got delayed due to poor visibility included the Air India flight from Delhi to Chandigarh, which was delayed by four hours and 30 minutes and the Indigo flight from Delhi, which landed four hours and 20 minutes late.

The airport witnessed a delay in flights from several cities, including Kolkata, Srinagar, Hyderabad, Pune and Bengaluru. According to a spokesperson for the airport, the flights remained affected in the morning as the visibility dropped to 800 metres.

“The weather conditions improved around 11 am,” said the spokesperson.

Due to the delay in the flights, passengers and their kin, who had come to see them off, faced a lot of inconvenience. “I came to see off my son, who was going to Delhi by the morning flight. However, due to the delay, he got stuck here,” said Rajnish Kumar, a resident of Ropar.
