Solan: The bordering Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Nalagarh and Doon have the maximum number of 13 and 11 critical polling booths among 34 such booths in Solan district. Solan DC Vinod Kumar said 75 polling booths had been categorised as vulnerable with the highest number of 29 such booths falling in the Arki constituency followed by 15 in Doon, 11 in Solan and 10 each in Nalagarh and Kasauli Assembly seats. The district has a total of 557 polling booths with Arki having the highest number 131, followed by Solan 124, Nalagarh 110, Kasauli 99 and Doon Vidhan Sabha constituency 93. As many as 70 sector officers and 19 sector magistrates have been appointed for the Lok Sabha elections and 15 static surveillance and as many flying squads have been constituted for smooth conduct of polls in Solan district. tns

Mandi: District Election Officer, Mandi, Rugved Thakur on Monday said all arrangements had been made for free, fair and violence-free Lok Sabha elections in the state on May 19. Addressing mediapersons here, he said with the model code of conduct coming into force, all SDMs had been directed to remove hoardings related to government schemes with immediate effect. He said 7.77 lakh people would cast vote to elect the MP from the Mandi parliamentary constituency. TNS
