Despite this, Finno of Talwandi Sanghera village rode pillion on a bike with her grandson Jaswinder Singh, a labourer, and his wife to cast her vote. Jaswinder said, “We want a school in the region. Our girls are commuting to Sol Jagir or Nangal Ambiyan. We don’t want our kids to walk to other schools. Mahaul kharab hai (it’s not safe for them). I have been raising this issue for long. Cong leader assaulted in Jalalabad

Fazilka: Factionalism in the Congress came to the fore on the day of polling as a former block Congress committee president of Jalalabad, Prithvi Raj Doomra alias Bhamma (65), was assaulted by a rival group within the party. Doomra alleged that he was attacked near old vegetable market and his supporters came to his rescue. Doomra had opposed Congress’ decision to give ticket to Sher Singh Ghubaya. Muktsar: The Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), Lambi, on Sunday served a notice on Sukhbir Badal’s younger daughter Gurleen Kaur for entering the poll booth with a SAD badge on her suit. Gurleen, in her reply, said she didn’t persuade any voter to cast ballot for any particular candidate. “The perusal of the video clearly indicates that no other voter, except my family, was present inside the booth. I exercised my right to franchise for the first time. So, kindly accept my explanation,” Gurleen stated in her reply to the ARO. TNS
