A 15-year-old girl died in Malikpur Khadar village of Yamunanagar district under mysterious circumstances on Saturday night.
Following a tip off, the police reached the village on Sunday and took the body to the civil hospital in Jagadhri for postmortem examination.
According to information, the 15-year-old girl, who matriculated last year, died on Saturday night. Members of her family were making arrangements for her cremation on Sunday morning.
Someone informed the Chhachhrauli police that a girl committed suicide by consuming some poisons substance in Malikpur Khadar village.
The police were told that her family members were making arrangements for cremation without getting postmortem conducted and informing the police.
Chhachhrauli SHO Rakesh Kumar Rana said a police team was sent to Malikpur Khadar village. The team stopped the cremation and took the body to the civil hospital in Jagadhri.
He said members of the deceased’s family told the police that the girl had been suffering from some disease for a long time.
He said the family told them that when her condition deteriorated on Saturday night, they took her to a private hospital in the area.
He said the family told them that a doctor at the private hospital advised them to take her to the civil hospital, but she died on the way.
“No complaint has been lodged. Statements of the family members will be recorded under Section 174 of the CrPC. After postmortem, the body has been handed over to the kin,” he said.
