Nawanshahr, July 4

With a view to bring victims of drug abuse into social mainstream, SSP, Satinder Singh, has launched a 24 hour helpline No 98553-10023 on Wednesday. The SSP while addressing the media persons said as per the strict instructions of zero tolerance against the drug peddlers, the district police would not spare any habitual guilty person.

Besides, the victims of drug abuse would be helped wholeheartedly to wipe off the stigma of drug addicts associated with them. Reiterating his commitment to act tough against the suppliers and expressing solidarity with affected families, the SSP stressed the need to come forward to get addicted children treated instead of hiding them.

He called upon the parents of addicted youth to contact the police on helpline number or contact at office without any hesitation so that proper treatment could be given to their children.

He exhorted the parents of women addicts to come forward for the treatment of their wards and the police would depute women counsellors for their treatment. He said that instead of waiting the situation getting worsening further, one should concentrate on saving the lives of the victims. — TNS
