Amritsar, October 17

Even after a month, the city police are clueless about the robbery at a jewellery shop. On September 15, four armed men had taken away cash, diamond and gold jewellery at gunpoint from a shop in Guru Bazaar at Chaurasti Attari Chowk. The owner of the showroom had claimed a loss of around Rs 3.20 crore.

Members of the Swarnkar Sangh conducted meetings with Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Cabinet minister OP Soni and senior police officers in this regard. The CM had assured them safety and instructed the police to crack the case.

During the investigation, the police revealed the role of gangster Karan Masti and Subham’s gang in the robbery.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amrik Singh Pawar had assured the jewellers that the accused would be arrested within 15 days.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers have hired private security guards and installed CCTV cameras. Ashwani Kale Sah, president, Swarnkar Sangh, expressed resentment over the “lethargy” of the police.

The DCP claimed that the police were making efforts to crack the case. He hoped that the accused would be behind the bars soon.
