Abohar, December 6

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has initiated a process to sell nine properties of former Akali Dal halqa in-charge and liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda’s family and guarantors here. Having called e-tenders through media, the bank has now fixed notices on the properties, which are scheduled to be auctioned on December 11.

Manager, PNB, Gaushala Road branch, has been designated as the executing officer.

Doda and his nephew Amit were awarded life sentence in the infamous brutal murder of their former employee, Bhim Tank (27), in December 2015, at his farmhouse in Ramsara village along the state highway here.

Sources in the bank claim the Doda family had failed to pay a loan of Rs55-60 crore. Consequently, the bank, after completion of due formalities, had attached nine properties of Shiv Lal Doda, his brothers and guarantors, under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Securities Interest (SARFAESI) Act, 2002, some time back.

The bank had reportedly served multiple notices to Dodas and their guarantors and they were called several times for settlement and negotiations.

As per the procedure laid down under the SARFAESI Act, the recovery officials finally attached nine properties owned by the Dodas and their guarantors in and around the city.
