New Delhi, August 22

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used Pakistan airspace to fly to Paris where both countries inked 14 pacts worth $15 billion on security, space, nuclear energy and protection of classified data. Neither side provided a breakup of the contracts nor was there clarity whether these were statements of intent or firm contracts.

Modi met the President of Zambia on Wednesday after returning from Bhutan and then flew to France today. He will leave for the UAE and Bahrain tomorrow and then return to France as a special invitee for the G-7 meet. Earlier, websites showed Modi’s plane travelling through Pakistan, the first time he has utilised its airspace after bilateral ties nosedived due to the Pulwama attack. — TNS
