The Punjab State Pharmacists Association has welcomed the state government decision to give optional extension of service to pharmacists after the age of 58 years.
Association convener Shamsher Singh Kohri in a statement on Friday welcomed the decision and said that a long pending demand of the cadre had been fulfilled.
He said that it was after a long legal battle that the state government had finally issued the orders. Kohri said that while in many other departments, the employees were given option of extension of service after 58 years of age but it was denied to them.
Association leader Ashok Kumar said following government orders pharmacists working against 1,650 existing posts would get the benefit of these orders. He said the association was thankful to the government.
‘Long-pending demand fulfilled’
