People want a change for good, says ex-Army chief

LUDHIANA: The former Chief of Army Staff and former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, General Joginder Jaswant Singh, has said he will contest the upcoming MP elections.

The former Chief of Army Staff and former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, General Joginder Jaswant Singh, has said he will contest the upcoming MP elections. At the same time he clarifies that he will not contest on ticket of the two main parties, the Congress and the BJP-SAD. He kept it under wraps under which party he will contest, but said he will reveal everything at the right time.

General Singh was in the city today as the chief guest at an event held by Presidium School, Ludhiana, to honour eminent personalities. On the sidelines of the programme, General Singh said all these political parties were corrupt and turn by turn, they were fooling the public. But now is the time that people want a change for good, he added.

Meanwhile, working on a mission to impart leadership via academics in the children of Ludhiana, Presidium School organised a grand award ceremony to honour 25 non-political personalities of Ludhiana who have been leading the city and society towards betterment.

Those awarded at the function are from diverse fields such as industry, entrepreneurship, social activism, fashion, art, literature, education and others. They include Dr Paramjit Kaur, Principal of BCM School, Shastri Nagar; Upkar Singh Ahuja; Jaswant Singh Zafar; Harjinder Kukreja; Dr KNS Kang; Tejwant Singh Kittu; artist Ayushi Gupta; Simrat Kathuria; traffic expert Rahul Verma; Gursahib Singh from Khalsa Aid; Arushi Oswal of Nikkiz Makeover; fashion designer Sonu Gandhi; Munish Jindal, founder of Hover Robotix; Milind Kwatra, founder of Hum Hain; Kawal Chhabra, founder of Ludhiana Live; Gautam Sharma and Avneet Singh, from Baba Chicken.

Talking about the vision behind the event, Renu Vijj, Principal of Presidium School, said: “We wish to create the children of Ludhiana as the future leaders of society. To demonstrate to them the selfless contributions, we have invited these personalities to our school campus today. We believe leadership can never be taught, it can only be demonstrated”.
