Jalandhar, June 18

An indefinite strike by the staff of the offices of the Deputy Commissioner has caused much unrest among the applicants, who had not been able to get their work done since the past over four-five days.

The applicants, who had work at the DC office, SDM’s office, land registrar’s office and tehsil, were the ones to remain most affected.

Tajinder Singh, a resident of Basti Bawa Khel, said his NRI relative was here for a week to sell his property, but the work had not been done.

“Saturday, Sunday and Monday were holidays. Today, we were hoping for the offices to open, but to no avail,” he said.

Meanwhile, the staff of the DC office, who have been demanding recruitment of more staff and promotions of existing staff, have said they would not resume work till their demands were fulfilled.
