Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur), February 5

People belonging to different factions entered into a row over the alleged use of unparliamentary language. While one side accused the other of using foul language against the womenfolk of the village, the other faction charged the other with making caste-based remarks at them. The incident took place in Gondpur village of Mahilpur with the policemen finally having to push them out of the police station and not listening to them.

According to the information received, for a year in village Gondpur, obscene language was being inscribed on the walls against the women of the village. One of the accused was reportedly nabbed red-handed by the villagers who reportedly confessed to his involvement. Both the sides were called to the Mahilpur police station but the situation took a new turn when the accused’s side filed a complaint accusing the other of making caste-based remarks.

On Tuesday, both the sides were called to the police station, with one side alleging that they were pushed out of the police station without taking any action on the complaint. The people, led by Valmiki Dharam Samaj’s Balwinder Marwaha, Himmat Kumar Lala, Rashpal Lali and Joginder Singh Kalewal Fattu protested against the police.

Police station in-charge Baljeet Singh Hundal the village panchayat of Gondpur had complained that some people in the village were inscribing unparliamentary language on the walls against the women of the village. Some people from the other side also then complained of casteist remarks made at them. The police is investigating the cases.
