Ludhiana: A pensioners’ adalat was conducted by the regional office, Ludhiana. The main objective of this adalat was quick disposal of grievances of the EPF pensioners. All staff pensioners were intimated in advance about the pensioners’ adalat so that they could attend the meeting, said Sumeet Singh, Regional PF Commissioner. Dheeraj Gupta, Regional PF Commissioner-I, welcome the staff pensioners and requested to present their grievances one by one. Some of the grievances were disposed off on the spot. TNS

2 held with 240 liquor bottles

Khanna: The Khanna Sadar police claimed to have recovered 20 cartons comprising of 240 bottles of illicit liquor meant for sale in Chandigarh from a car and arrested two persons in this regard. The accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh and Sandeep Singh, both residents of Sahor, Barnala district. Khanna SSP Gursharandeep Singh Grewal said a police party of the Khanna Sadar police laid a naka at T Point, Lalheri, for checking. The police signaled a Swift car to stop. During the search, they found 240 bottles of illicit liquor. A case has been registered in this regard against the accused and they will be presented in a court for further legal action. The SSP said as per preliminary investigation, the alleged accused had brought this consignment of liquor from Chandigarh and were going to sell it in Barnala.

Bike thief held with motorcycle

Khamano: The Kheri Naudh Singh police claimed to have arrested one bike thief and recovered a stolen motorcycle from him. The accused have been identified as Mangat Singh, a resident of Nanglan village, near Khamano. As per information, following a tip-off, a team of the Kheri Naudh Singh police installed a naka near Nanglan village. The police party signaled motorcyclist to stop. During questioning, the motorcyclist admitted that the motorcycle he was riding was a stolen one. Kheri Naudh Singh SHO Gagandeep Singh said a case was registered in this regard against Mangat and he will be presented in a court for further legal action in this regard. OC
