Srinagar, January 20
A day after the PDP expelled senior leader Altaf Bukhari, the party’s Amira Kadal zone president resigned from the party.
Bukhari had won the 2014 Assembly election from Srinagar’s Amira Kadal constituency. PDP Amira Kadal zone president Mohammad Ashraf Dar said the party was not following the footsteps of its founder.
“During my long association with the party since the year 2000, I witnessed many phases, wherein the party was trying to prove itself as a viable political alternative for the people. Unfortunately, the present situation within the party, especially after the demise of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, I have come to conclusion that the party is not following the footsteps of late Mufti saheb and the principles for which it was established,” Dar wrote in his resignation letter. — TNS
