Patiala civic body clears projects worth Rs 43 crore

The Municipal Corporation (MC), Patiala, today cleared development projects worth Rs 43 crore. The MC House approved the construction of roads and streets in all 60 wards of the city. 

MC officials said the estimate for the construction of roads and streets had been sent to the Local Bodies Department. The MC has kept Rs 19.64 crore for it. Apart from it, the MC also cleared Rs 13 crore for the repair of various roads in the city.

The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the MC had proposed to increase expenditure on the development of slums and underdeveloped colonies. Today, the MC house cleared Rs 10.16 crore for development works in the slums and colonies. Colonies in Ward Nos. 1,2,10,30,31,32 and 48, Krishna Colony, Bharat Nagar and Hira Bagh have been divided into four categories for the development works. 

The MC House also cleared the agenda of charging fee for water supply and sewerage connection from those living in the colonies constructed on the leased out land. Officials said there could be around 2,000 households availing the water supply and sewerage facility in these colonies.

MC officials said the MC had received an approval for the first phase of the Rs 6.79-crore dairy-shifting project at Ablowal village. They said the total expenditure on the construction of an approach road, parking and footpath, along with the construction of allied structures, including a biogas plant, cattle pond, gaushala, would be Rs 13.25 crore.

The MC House also discussed the installation of semi-smart underground waste bins in the city.
