Solan, February 14

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said today that if the situation did not improve in Parwanoo, the state government would take over the transport unions as Parwanoo was the gateway of the state.

Taking a strong note of the violence, he said no one would be allowed to vitiate atmosphere of the Parwanoo industrial area which was in close proximity with the state’s biggest industrial belt of Baddi.

He said several such violent incidents had occurred in the past too during the Congress government.

The Chief Minister said a detailed report had been sought about the violent incident and the next course of action would be decided on the basis of this report.

Investors meet CM, air grievances

Solan: A delegation of members of the Parwanoo Industries Association met Chief Minister at Shimla and aired their grievances against frequent breakdown of the law and order situation at Parwanoo due to the brewing dispute between the transporters.

Association’s general secretary Sarthak Taneja said the Chief Minister has assured them that the law and order situation will not be allowed to deteriorate any more as adequate police force has been placed there and those responsible for the violence were being arrested.

Taneja said the association especially expressed their concern over numerous incidents of violence as each time such an incident took place the employees working in the industrial units as well as the residents were terrified.

These incidents were not only vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of this industrial town but were bringing a bad name to the state which was endeavouring to attract investment through investors meets. The presence of peaceful atmosphere has been highlighted as a major selling point of the state during the investor meets by the state government.

With four reserves maintaining a vigil in the town, the police was focusing on arresting the remaining culprits and also recovering the weapons used to fire at least six rounds in the air on Monday evening.
