Government Primary School, Naura, in Nawanshahr district, has set an example of changing the face of government schools in the state.
The schools have decorated walls of classrooms with art and craft work, with poems, educative information, and neat and clean playgrounds and clean toilets.
Under the ‘Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab’ project various government schools in the state have gone ‘Smart’ by making the use of innovative teaching methods and material in order to help students to develop an interest and understand the concepts accurately.
Besides, the schools have also been asked to set up kitchen gardens on the premises in order to make students familiar with farming and vegetables. Students will also have mid-day meal of vegetables procured from their own garden.
The Education Secretary has also asked for the list of maintained and cleanedschools from every district.
The schools who will top the list in term of cleanliness and upkeep be awarded by the Education Department next month, said officials.
Vinod Kumar, District Education Officer, said, “With the efforts of the teachers and the Education Department under the ‘Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab’ project, schools are maintaining clean environment, teachers are decorating schools with handmade learning material to attract
students.”
NRI’s looking around the development in schools have been motivated to make donations to schools. Recently benches, smart boards, and other necessary items were donated by the NRI’s belonging to the region, he added.
