Vipanjeet races to glory

CHANDIGARH: Vipanjeet Kaur of Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana, clocked 25.17s to set the new meet record in the women’s 200m dash in the ongoing Panjab University Annual Athletics Meet here on Monday and claim the gold medal.

Vipanjeet Kaur of Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana, clocked 25.17s to set the new meet record in the women’s 200m dash in the ongoing Panjab University Annual Athletics Meet here on Monday and claim the gold medal.

Divyanshi of DAV College (25:64) finished in second place, while Amandeep Kaur (25:66) of KCW, Ludhiana, bagged the third position. 

Divyanka Chaudhary of DAV College took 38 minutes and 58.60 seconds to win the women’s 10,000m gold. She was followed by Daljeet Kaur (44:04.82) of GTB Khalsa College, Dasuya, in second place, while Nekta Sharma (44:33.39) of GKSM Government College, Tanda, secured the third position. 

Usha Rani of RGC, Ludhiana, won the gold medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. She clocked 11:29.25 to top the podium. 

KM Shaili (11:45.20) of KCW, Ludhiana, and Kulwinder Kaur (11:56.34) of GTB College, Dhakha, claimed the second and third positions, respectively. 

Parveen Kaur of RGC, Ludhiana, clocked 59:36 to win the women’s 400m gold. Her college-mate Lovepreet Kaur (1:00.94) bagged the silver, while Khushdeep Kaur (1:01.11) of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, took home the bronze medal. 

Gug Kaur of GTB College, Dasuya, recorded a timing of 5:01.24 to win the women’s 1500m gold. She was closely followed by Jyoti (5:01.31s) of JC DAV College, Dasuya, and Anamika (5:08.70s) of GTB College in second and third places, respectively.

Prabhdeep triumphs

Prabhdeep Kaur of DAV College won the javelin gold with a throw of 40:88m. Shivani (32.82m) of KCW, Ludhiana, and Radha (26.09m) of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, claimed the second and third positions, respectively. 

In the women’s discus throw, Urmila (32.42m) of GGS College bagged the gold, while Maphi (31.18m) of DAV College finished with a silver medal. Prayanka (30.23m) of GGS College had to be content with a bronze. 

Harjit scampers to gold 

Harjit Singh of Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) College, Sector 26, clocked 10:69 to win the 100m gold. 

His college-mate Sahil Mahabali (11:01) won the silver, while Ashish Thakur (11:23) of DAV College, Sector 10, claimed the bronze. 

Harpreet Singh of DM College, Moga, topped the podium in the 400m race with a timing of 49:42s. Harwinder Singh (49:57) and Navtej Singh (49:81), both from SGGS College, claimed the second and third positions, respectively. 

Bhupinder of DAV College, Sector 10, clocked 16:43 to finish on top in the 110m hurdles. He was followed by Amandeep Singh (17:60) of SGGS College in second place, while Gagandeep Singh (19:35) of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar, bagged the third position.

Mandeep Singh of DAV College dominated the field in the 1500m competition. He clocked 4 minutes and 11.65 seconds to win the gold medal. Sehajdeep Singh (4:13.01) of SGGS College claimed the silver, while Nichhatar Singh (4:16.03) of MR Government College, Fazilka, returned with the bronze medal. 

Gagan sizzles

Gagan of SGGS College recorded a timing of 9:34.37 to win the men’s 3000m steeplechase gold. His practice partner and college-mate Sandeep Singh (9:39.22) bagged the silver, while Gurmeet Singh (9.42:21) of DAV College took home the bronze medal. 

Sumit of SGGS College swept a distance of 48.16m to win the gold medal in the men’s discus throw competition. Paramjeet Singh (46.59m) and Amandeep Singh (45.08m), both from SGGS College, claimed 

the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Sahil of SGGS College won the long jump gold with a leap of 7.12m. His college-mate Satnam Singh (7.10m) clinched the silver, while Harpreet Singh of DAV College (6:78m) got the bronze medal.
