Panic grips passengers as smoke billows out of train engine

AMBALA: Panic gripped passengers travelling in the Saharanpur-Nangal Dam passenger (64511) train after smoke started billowing out of the engine of the train reportedly due to some sparking.

Panic gripped passengers travelling in the Saharanpur-Nangal Dam passenger (64511) train after smoke started billowing out of the engine of the train reportedly due to some sparking.

According to information, the train reached near Maujgarh village around 8:05 am after departing from the Barara station. All of a sudden, the train stopped following a technical snag, sparking and smoke.

Naveen, a daily passenger, said “The train had departed from the Barara station. All of a sudden, it stopped as there was some sparking and smoke was billowing out of the engine.”

Following the incident, another engine was sent to bring back the train to the Barara station. The train departed around 10 am after the fault was repaired.

BS Gill, Station Director, Ambala Cantonment railway station, said: “There was some technical fault in the ‘panto’ of the train. It was taken back to the Barara station with the help of a relief engine. There was no major loss.”
