93 file papers in Dera Bassi block on Day 2

Though filing of nomination papers for the upcoming panchayat elections started in the Dera Bassi block here on Saturday, as many as 93 candidates filed their papers here today.

According to the report, 39 candidates filed their nomination for the posts of sarpanch, while 54 filed papers for the posts of panch in the Dera Bassi block.

According to the official data, about 86,288 voters would exercise their right to franchise at 118 polling booths in the Dera Bassi block. Out of this, 46,111 voters are male while 40,177 are female, who would decide the fate of the candidates.

The officials said as many as 10 cluster offices had been decided where candidates could file their nomination papers and the same would be received by the cluster officers respectively.

153 nominations filed in Kharar block

Kharar: A huge rush was witnessed for filing nomination papers for the panchayat elections in the Kharar block on Monday. As many as 153 candidates filed their papers on Monday. It is pertinent to mention that in the Kharar block, elections for 140 village panchayats will be held. Kharar SDM Vinod Kumar Bansal has been appointed the overall in-charge of the elections. He has appointed 17 assistant returning officers. According to information, 113 papers were filed for the posts of panch and 40 papers were filed for the posts of sarpanch. According to information, about 873 candidates have obtained NoC from the office of the BDPO, Kharar, to contest the elections.
