Palwal, April 12

The district election authorities have planned to set up pink polling stations (only for women) for the Lok Sabha elections. In all, 60 such booths will come up in the district.

Mani Ram Sharma, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, said, “The location of pink polling booths in Palwal, Hathin and Hodal Assembly segments (part of the Faridabad constituency) is under discussion. The project is likely to take a final shape in a couple of weeks. All four officials in such booths will be women.”

Pink polling booths, he said, would encourage women to exercise their franchise. “Women are reluctant to cast their vote due to certain factors. Pink booths will motivate many first-time voters.”

Pink booths will be located in urban or semi-urban areas. Soon, the authorities will identify where pink booths will come up. The district has a total of 685 polling stations.
