Srinagar, November 17

The Centre has decided to block TV channels based in Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Malaysia. Cable operators on Sunday met Joint Secretary (I&B) Vikram Sahay, who reportedly instructed them to block channels from “hostile Muslim countries”.

Sahay refused to give details of the meeting. The government had in July 2018 asked the cable operators not to broadcast 34 channels. However, there were reports that these instructions were being violated. — TNS
