Over 44,000 aspirants from the southern districts of the Union Terroritory of J&K have applied for the 10-day-long Army recruitment rally in Samba.
It’s the first recruitment rally being organised by the Army in J&K after the creation of the UT.
The rally commenced on Sunday in the three southern districts of Jammu, Samba and Kathua, where over 44,117 aspirants from the Jammu region registered and are likely to be screened for their physical and medical fitness.
“The huge turnout is an indicator of the desire of the local youth to opt for peace and progress of J&K. They wish to join the Army, serve the nation and carve out a brighter future for themselves and their families,” Army PRO Davender Anand said.
“On the first day, as many as 3067 candidates appeared for the physical fitness test. The vacancies are open in six categories, including soldier general duty, soldier technical, soldier technical nursing assistance (AMC), soldier technical nursing assistance veterinary, soldier clerk and soldier tradesman,” the PRO added.
The recruitment process is divided into several categories and rounds, which include physical fitness test, medical test and written test. Special emphasis is being made to make the prospective candidates understand this process so that they do not fall prey to touts.
Selected candidates will be inducted into the various arms and services of the Army.
