Chandigarh, February 9
A day after former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala was released on furlough from Tihar Jail in Delhi, the INLD on Saturday released his programme in connection with district-level political meetings.
After the Jind byelection debacle, the party had been feeling the urgency of fielding the four-time Chief Minister to prevent its leaders from switching over to the Jannayak Janta Party.
The Delhi Government, while releasing Chautala on three-week furlough, removed the bar on political activity. He was scheduled to be released on January 22.
His furlough was postponed to January 29 and then a condition imposed that he could not attend political meetings. He appealed to the Delhi Government to withdraw this condition, which was agreed to.
