Keeping alive the participation of young audience, an open mic competion was organised in the city, wherein young poets entertained the audience.
Young poet Virinder Jatwani adeptly repeated ‘Sharabi se poocho sharab kya hoti hai’ interspersed with humorous situations, only to bring home the message how destructive alcohol is for people as he concluded his poem, depicting how poetry, while being entertaining, can also be edifying.
Several poets, newbies and experienced voices came together for open mic session organised by Nojoto and Soultalk held at Arterrace today.
Payal Wadhwa, another young poetess, poetically expressed that rather than objecting to her makeup, men should first remove make-up from mind and stop faking feelings.
There was no bar on topics and languages used by the poets.
Riya, who spoke in Punjabi, on ‘Dosti’ through her poem pointed out how the society even today, doesn’t accept that a boy and a girl as friends.
One of the organisers of the event Diksha Lamba said the purpose of the event was to bring budding and experienced poets together. Ashish Dwivedi, another organizer, said the poets from different places, including Chandigarh, Jalandhar and other places were participated in the event. A book titled ‘Mystic Verses’ by Anchal Arora from Kurukshetra was released on the occasion. She said it was her first book of poetry and comprised several poems in English on different subjects.
