Only certified workers to enter sewers

CHANDIGARH:From now on, only certified, trained and licence-holding sewermen would be authorised to enter sewers in the state and if any cleaner does not have the required training or licence and he enters sewers, action would be initiated against him.

From now on, only certified, trained and licence-holding sewermen would be authorised to enter sewers in the state and if any cleaner does not have the required training or licence and he enters sewers, action would be initiated against him. 

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave these directions to officers of Urban Local Bodies Department while presiding over a review meeting of CM announcements related to the Department here on Tuesday.

It was informed at the meeting that, with the assistance of the police, CCTV cameras would be installed at each district headquarters in cities, which would be linked with a command centre. The process of installation of CCTV cameras was under progress in Gurugram, Faridabad and Karnal, which were being made Smart Cities. A command centre was being established in Gurugram which would be connected with all CCTV cameras across the city. On this, the Chief Minister directed the officers to hold a meeting with officers of the Police Department and get this work completed at the earliest. Apart from this, he also directed the officers to adopt general norms for construction of community centres.
