Actor Rohitash Gour, who is currently a part of popular show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, talks about the show and much more:
How has your character Manmohan Tiwari contributed to your life as an actor?
Basically, I am not like Manmohan Tiwari in real life. Tiwariji is a miser. As an actor, I have learnt to behave like someone whose character is totally different from my own in reality.
Tell us about your equation with your co-actors.
I have a great relationship with my co-star Vibhuti Narayan Mishra. We used to do a serial called Hum Aapke Hain In-Laws. We both have an old connection owing to theatre.
Why did you leave theatre?
I used to do theatre in Mumbai when I didn’t have a lot of work on TV. But then I realised that you can’t run your house with the earnings from theatre. So, I decided to focus on getting more television work.
Are you looking forward to doing any film?
Now films have become actor-oriented and the actors in supporting roles are also getting their due importance, which was not the case earlier. So, yes, I am open for films but as of now, only focused on my role of Manmohan Tiwari.
We have seen you in films like Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Pk. What is it that prevents you from doing a wide variety of movies?
In a daily soap, you have long shooting hours if you are the main lead. I have been in an exclusive contract with the channel, so I can’t afford to give much time to films.
Who has been your biggest career support?
I am from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. My father, Sudarshan Gour, used to do theatre there. So, I got full support from my father and he is the one who encouraged me for doing theatre. He is my mentor.
