As real as it gets

There has been a lot of debate over children participating in reality shows. What is your take?

I think reality shows are a holiday for kids. Not all children are seeing it as a career option. Many artistes, including Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal, Kunal Ganjawala and I, have participated in music reality shows. These days, schools are supportive, and if a child has the talent, and their parents are encouraging, what is wrong with it?

How do you handle a contestant when they get eliminated?

I always make sure that they don’t feel let down, and one thing I always tell them is to never lose hope and to work hard. I also advise them to learn more and be a student all their life.

Gujarati songs are becoming a rage in Bollywood today. What do you have to say about that?

I have sung a lot of Gujarati songs and enjoy singing in Gujarati. Over the years, the Gujarati film industry has been growing.
