One held for snatching

PHAGWARA: The Rawalpindi police have arrested a snatcher and recovered two pairs of gold earrings and a sharp-edged weapon from his possession.

The Rawalpindi police have arrested a snatcher and recovered two pairs of gold earrings and a sharp-edged weapon from his possession.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satinder Singh said the accused identified as Atma Ram, a resident of Mehli village was nabbed at a check point, when he was coming on a motor cycle no PB-32B-1604.

The police have impounded his bike. The accused has confessed his involvement in snatching of the ear rings from Rampur Sunrra village resident Pyaro and her daughter Harwinder on July 26 evening.

The police have also registered a case under Section 379B of the IPC. The accused has confessed his involvement in four other cases of snatching committed during last one month. Meanwhile the SSP Satinder Singh has appealed to the people to immediately report any kind of criminal incident to the police.

The SSP also disclosed that a snatcher identified as Sukhdev Singh, who was arrested by the Kapurthala police recently, had confessed his involvement in more than 24 cases of snatching, but none of the victims reported to the police and the cases remained unregistered.
