One booked under POCSO Act for molesting 11-yr-old girl

PATIALA:The police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a person was accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

The police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a person was accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

The suspect has been identified as Darbara Singh, a resident of Patran. The police said according to the complainant in the case his 11-year-old niece went to the suspect’s house for some work on Wednesday evening. He said the suspect then tried to rape her niece and behaved inappropriately with her.

The police have now registered a case against the suspect under Sections 376 (Rape), 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life) of the IPC and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
